In the Middle of a Cornfield, In the Middle of America

Galt Airport was founded by Arthur T. Galt Jr. in the early
1950's when he turned a hayfield on his dairy farm into a landing strip.

In 1998 two men, Ivan Djurin and Michael Stanard, purchased the facility from
Mr. Galt. The partners have been steadily making improvements and in the process have transformed the once sleepy airport into the showplace of the Midwest.

Virtually every aspect of the airport has been improved, from the restored 1930's beacon that sits atop the original barn silo, to the welcoming sign at the entrance.

Galt's FBO and pilot lounge is filled with aviation memorabilia
and artifacts. In the winter, a wood-burning stove creates an inviting
atmosphere ideal for "hangar flying."

Becoming A Pilot

Our Flight School is designed to produce pilots. While students can,
at times, earn a private pilot's license in a shorter period, our experience indicates that a program of personalized instruction, calibrated over a 12 month period, produces predictable long-term results. Upon successful completion of our flight instruction program, many Galt-trained pilots join our One Zero Charlie
flying club or purchase aircraft of their own.
